The medicinal mud used for the treatment is a mixture of volcanic ash and thermal water, so it is particularly beneficial for arthritis, abrasive and calcifying conditions, and inflammatory skin diseases. The pack creates vasodilatation and thus has an analgesic effect and strengthens the immune system.

A medical examination is required to use the mud pack treatment. The mud treatment is carried out in the form of wraps, where the prepared mud is applied to the area to be treated in a thickness of 3-4 fingers, and then the treated area is covered with a triple layer (linen, nylon and blanket) to ensure the thermal effect. The patient rests in this wrap during the treatment. After the treatment, the mud is removed from the body. At Balance Medical Center we use Georgikon therapeutic mud.

Most commonly, therapeutic mud treatment is applied to address chronic musculoskeletal complaints and illness, but it can also be effective for treating certain gynaecological issues.

Like all treatments, mud treatment has contraindications. Apart from general weakness and illnesses of the body, contraindications are mainly acute inflammations. Mud treatment should only be used in chronic conditions.

The mud treatment is applied in a series of treatments. A course of treatment usually consists of 10-15 sessions, 2-3 times a week. Mud treatments are carried out for a maximum of 20 minutes, depending on the patient's tolerance, but should last at least 10 minutes. Treatments are usually carried out with a therapeutic mud at 42°C.
